Design Engineer (BC-4)

The Design Engineer I is responsible for completing assignments designed to develop professional work knowledge and abilities that are planned to provide experience and familiarization with the engineering staff, methods, practices, and programs. The Design Engineer I will use engineering principles and design software, helps to design, develop and maintain products and/or components to required specifications. The Design Engineer I reports to the Engineering Product Manager.

Include the following, but other duties may be assigned.
Operates computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.
Assists in the development of new products and makes improvements to existing products.
Reviews existing designs and Bills-Of-Material (BOM) and manipulates them to meet the needs of Modified-To-Order (MTO) and Engineered-To-Order (ETO) products.
Details general arrangements, welded assemblies, sub-assemblies, process and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID), tubing diagrams and functional specifications.
Prepares part drawings for design packages and pattern files for CAM use.
Prepares BOM for equipment consistent with product structure, prepares ERP system commitments in accordance with design needs.
Support the investigation of design-related problems revealed in fabrication, assembly, test, quality assurance and service for a specific product sector.
Partners with Sales, Purchasing, Customer Support and various Manufacturing departments and customers on designs.
Responsible for small and large or special engineering projects with many complex features as assigned by the Engineering Product Manager.
Responsible for ERP system commitments for product sector equipment.
Responsible for meeting cost reduction targets for a specific product sector.
Assigned collateral projects and duties to support departmental needs.
Regular and reliable attendance.

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology or other related degree; OR one (1) year of relevant work experience in mechanical engineering which includes 3D modeling software.
Must be able detail-oriented and able to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
Must be able work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Strong demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Excel, Word, Project, PowerPoint).
Familiarity with Autodesk Inventor preferred.

FE (EIT) preferred, but not required.
Familiarity and experience with sheet metal design.
Basic knowledge of compressors, pneumatics and electro-mechanical systems preferred.
Professional membership in ASME, SME, APICS or other similar society.
