Franklin High School’s In-School Youth Program serves juniors and seniors at Franklin High School. Components of the program include personal social development, educational achievement services, career and life skills instruction and financial literacy education. Participants are offered training and internships in the building and construction trades. Students have the opportunity to participate in a STEM summer camp where they focus on learning specific areas such as robotics, aeronautical, electrical, sustainability, and aerospace technology.

Career Services Program (Operated by Southampton County Public Schools)

Serves: Southampton High School

The Career Services Program is committed to working with students, parents, staff members, and stakeholders to ensure the success of eligible students. Students receive support in career exploration and immersion primarily in Science, Technology, Engineering, Agriculture and Math (STEAM) related occupational areas as well as academic preparation and work experiences. Implementation of services impact our high school completion rates, promote postsecondary education and increase awareness of career opportunities. The ultimate goal is to promote student success through an ongoing, comprehensive plan of services emphasizing 21st century job skills.

STEM & Entrepreneurship Innovation Program (Operated by Virginia Beach City Public Schools)

Serves: Virginia Beach City Public Schools

The VBCPS STEM & Entrepreneurship Innovation Programs gives eligible high school juniors and seniors the opportunity to enhance their skills in the STEM & Entrepreneurship fields by participating in a variety of after-school and weekend activities. Students work with a team after-school to build a robot that can complete a task and participate in the annual STEM Robotics Challenge. Teams also participate in the Maker Expo where they create their own product on a 3-D printer, make a business plan, and pitch their ideas in a ‘Shark Tank’ style environment. The students immerse themselves in entrepreneurship one Saturday a month for a paid work experience in creating their own business. Students also do a once a month mentorship activity with program administrator at their home school that enhances their personal and professional lives. To culminate their school year activities, students have the opportunity to participate in a 6-week paid summer experience, the iBook Summer of Innovation, creating iBooks, 3-printed materials, and more!
