Applications Architect (SF-3)

The Application Architect is responsible for producing leverageable design artifacts and best practices that will effectively guide subsequent application construction, deployment efforts, ongoing performance and continued evolution. Partnering with Enterprise Architecture, Development and Infrastructure groups of IT&T, the Application Architect will manage the application-solution-specific guidelines and constraints (such as business requirements, enterprise architecture, information architecture, infrastructure, available resources, operations and maintenance concerns, and the state of technology). This role is vital to reviewing partner deliverables to ensure conformity for standards and drive accountability. This position will require significant collaboration with cross domain technology leaders at Smithfield.

Core Responsibilities

  • Responsible for technology thought leadership while guiding, selecting and implementing new technologies including proof of concepts partnering with Enterprise and Technology experts.
  • Collaborates with Project Management Office, Enterprise Architecture and Technology Managers for work intake prioritization process and ensures that scope, technical assumptions and constraints are understood by all.
  • Provides design leadership and functional integrity within the ERP/Non-ERP solutions and across applications/modules.
  • Drives Interface strategy while facilitating the implementation of Enterprise Architecture guidelines.
  • Enforces EA strategies for application customization.
  • Leads the selection and usage of operations automation tools for performance management, backup/recovery, data copy, transports, etc.
  • Enforces the usage of EA defined models, including solution patterns, governance activities to guide solution decisions for the enterprise.
  • Defines the strategy of high-availability/disaster recovery for ERP/Non-ERP systems.
  • Constantly looks for application rationalization opportunities thru innovative and cost-effective technologies

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited four-year college or university in Information Technology or related field and 5 + years of IT experience; or equivalent combination of education and/or experience, required.
  • 8+ years of experience in progressive IT roles, preferred.
  • Minimum of 4+ years of technology leadership development, architecting and implementing development, architecting and implementing development, architecting and implementing development, architecting and implementing development, architecting and implementing enterprise systems.
  • Proficient in all modules involved in Order-to-Cash (OM, Advanced Pricing, Shipping, WMS, Inventory, AR, Costing, XLA, GL), Procure-to-Pay (Purchasing, Inventory, WMS, AP, Costing, XLA, GL) or Forecast to Manufacture processes (WIP, Costing, XLA, Inventory) and Financials (FA, CM, GL)
  • Technical Expertise on Oracle Open Interfaces/API s for the different Modules within all EBS Modules
  • Technical Expertise on different tools/programming languages such as PL/SQL, Forms, Reports, Workflow Builder, Java, APEX
  • Experience in applying Service-Oriented Architecture to solutions
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in using and applying API, OAF,. NET and XML based solutions
  • Proficient in all modules involved in Order-to-Cash (OM, Advanced Pricing, Shipping, WMS, Inventory, AR, Costing, XLA, GL), Procure-to-Pay (Purchasing, Inventory, WMS, AP, Costing, XLA, GL) or Forecast to Manufacture processes (WIP, Costing, XLA, Inventory) and Financials (FA, CM, GL)

  • Experience working with web, SAAS technologies and developing portals.
  • Knowledge with enterprise integration platforms, API tools, MFT and other communication methodologies.
  • Experience in applying Service-Oriented Architecture to solutionsExperience in applying Service-Oriented Architecture to solutions.
  • Broad knowledge and understanding of ITIL concepts, current and emerging architecture.
  • Ability to influence teams successfully with practical knowledge of adopting EA best practices and concepts of re-usability.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced-environment with tight deadlines and multiple project deliverables.
